Dil Leask's Passing
The Cat Fancy in South Africa has lost a corner stone. Dil Leask sadly passed away recently, leaving many of us with a sad heart.
Dil started out breeding Siamese in the 1980’s under the Karyiad prefix. Being a tabby lover, she then moved on to breeding the ultimate tabbies – the Bengals – and was one of the first successful breeders of this vocal and active breed in the country.
She served on the Transvaal Cat Society committee for a long time where she ran very large and successful shows – also training new members in show activities.
A car accident many years ago left Dil with painful back problems and even after numerous back operations, plus years spent bent over the foiling machine in her rosette factory, her health continued to deteriorate and she had to give up her involvement in all cat activities. But she was always available to help and advise, day and night.
Dil has endured worsening health issues over the last few years but finally has been relieved of the unbearable pain to join many of her kitties who are waiting for her in a better place.

The All About Cat team remember Dil with gratitude for her enthusiastic assistance, particularly with regard to Bengals and the beautiful rosettes she made for us. No matter what her personal circumstances, she was always cheerful and willing to share her knowledge and expertise and for this she will be fondly remembered.
